Brazilian Futsal Academy in Malaysia Launches Youth Programs
Tue, 9 Oct 2007
We have just launched our winning academy, Brazil Futsal Academy in
Malaysia.
The founding fundamentals of our winning academy does not only look to win, but has the
ability to bring football to a totally different level from what it is today. And no, this
isn't impossible. It would be, if this was just another academy with an aspiration to
introduce Futsal as a serious sport in Malaysia. What makes the difference in our academy
is our niche and strong emphasis in technical grounding.
To produce world class players, logically, we only need first-class credential coaches.
And in our case, we have 2-time world champion former Brazil national player, the very
sought after Silvio Machado (Lula), as founder, and Director of Coaching of our academy.
His aim: quite simply, to win!
Our Youth Development Program is a program where emphasis is given to
kids from ages 4 to 18 in learning to play Futsal. Having Silvio as Principal and Head
Coach carries oodles of mileage. For one, he was already the National Coach for Malaysia's
national Futsal team between 2002 - 2005. Under his tutelage, Malaysia actually improved
its standing from 4th to 2nd in the 2004 and 2005 Asean Futsal Federation championship.
Ask anybody in Malaysia's Futsal scene, and they can vouch that if there is one person who
can be anywhere near creating a miracle for Malaysian football, it would be Silvio.
Our Team Development Program is another program where
emphasis is given to boys and girls teams from any age group in learning to play Futsal
and the technical and tactical aspect of it. Silvio (Lula) has brought Team Msia to #2 in
South East Asia during his years as Malaysia Futsal Head Coach.
Futsal is an intelligent game. It is all about the knowledge and information that you
have that will determine how much better you are against your opponents. This information
has been compiled into our training module and will definitely be beneficial to a team.

Problems Encountered at USFF Nationals
Mon, 16 Jul 2007
Here is an overview of this year's so called U.S. Futsal National
Championships held in Anaheim, Calif.
First, the registration process was deplorable, one table with 2 people taking care of all
the teams. We were informed for the first time to have a team roster with us when checking
in, and all player cards must have a picture on them! Well, we all emailed our pictures in
a few weeks ago. Some players had their pictures and others did not. If not, you were told
to get a photo copy and it would be placed on the card. You could not enter or play
without a picture! No one ever checked to see my card or my players' cards, and the
referees, never once looked at me and my card at the same time, and I was involved with
more then 2 or 3 teams.
Second, birth certificates. We never were asked to provide or bring a copy of the
players' birth certificates or a State ID card! One kid did not know what court he was
playing in, so he asked me, while standing near the schedules. I asked him for his age and
he told me 11, so I saw that same kid lift the 1st place trophy in the U10 Boys age group!
"Out of the mouth of babes!"
I should end on a positive note and say that the location is great, being
in Southern California, close to Disneyland and the beach. The convention center is
excellent, and new floors where very nice to play on, but the organization, and the lack
of top quality officials. One official called a penalty kick for a dangerous play (slide
on the ground), and then other referees let that same play go. It shows that it was not
discussed in the pre-referee-meeting.
And here is the best for last. There is no "true" National Futsal Tournament in
the any Futsal organizations in the U.S. The Super F league only has a few states in its
tournament, and the USFF allows any teams willing to pay $500 to enter the tournament.
I heard there were players from all over the U.S. playing on teams, since the Futsal
"world" is so small here in the U.S. The Men's Open team had 3 or 4 players and
a coach come up from Brazil just for this tournament, and that team won the Final!
How, I ask you, is that a "National Tournament?" It is more like a National Open
Cup!

Sat, 20 Jan 2007
A quick reminder that the U.S. Court Soccer Federation (USCSF) represents the original World

Martina, Andries De Lannoy and their fellows) for the excellent
organization and hospitality for all participants at the II

motivation and reflection bringing new ideas, concepts and
strategies for the congressmen.
Mr. Pedro Bonnettini, AMF General-Secretary and CAFS leader did also
an excellent presentation concerning sporting business and

Women's Team in Philippines Looking for Tournaments ... in 2008
Mon, 13 Feb 2006
Hello from the Philippines!
Would you know of any futsal tournaments open to women's club teams from other countries
in the year 2008?
Our coach is forming a new ladies' futsal team. There are no age requirements, so team
members' ages might range from 18 to 30-plus. And he would like to set a goal
tournament to train for - two years from now.
If you could find a calendar of futsal women's club events that are open
to all countries, could you kindly send it to us? We'd really appreciate it.
Thanks and more power!

Looking for Video of Falcao
Thu, 23 Dec 2004
My name is Gudni and I'm mailing you from Iceland. I was so lucky to find
your website so I decided if you might give some help on what I'm looking for these days.
I happened to see the Fifa world player of the year awards as an Arsenal fan and a big fan
og Thierry Henry who came second wich is something I just can't understand.
But that's not why I'm mailing you. While I was watching the awards this player in Futsal
grabbed my attention and I couldn't stop admiring his techniqu and his skills are
Ronaldinho x 70. So I was maby thinking you might have some higlights of him. Like the
best of Falcao because this player is just unbelievable, I didn't believe my eyes when I
saw his skills. But if you have some clips from him I would be really pleased if you could
put them on the web and maby contact me when you have found something.

Florida Futsal Challenge Set for Tampa
Thu, 18 Nov 2004
The West Florida Futsal Association (WFFA) and its director, Tony Mazzone, a native
of Uruguay, has been the pioneer in Futsal in the Tampa Bay Area.
It established the first Futsal league in 2003 with teams ranging from U10 to adult. This area welcomed Futsal so much that the WFFA director has been asked to train the Countryside High School Varsity girls in Futsal, and all the girls absolutely love the game.
The WFFA is now set to host the Florida Futsal Challenge at the University of South Florida (USF) Feb. 4-6, 2005. The USF facilities include four regulation-size courts and are incredible. The top teams in each bracket will qualify to represent WFFA in the U.S. Futsal National Championships at Anahein, Calif. For more information see http://www.westfloridafutsal.com.
Hungarian Looking for Team in England
Fri, 29 Oct 2004
My name is Kornel Bodrogi. I've come to Wimbledon, England, from Hungary about two
months ago. In my country I played in the national first league in Futsal, like here
five-a-side (Elso Beton Szeged) for more than two years. I was in the first team
(goalkeeper), and the reason why I am here is because I should learn the English language.
Futsal was my life and in Hungary we had one of the best teams. So I would like to find a
team where I can play again. I don't know how and where I can find one. It can be an
amateur league, professional or semi-professional. If its possible.
About me: I was born at 24.04.1982. I am 176 tall, and 71 kilo. I had more than 40 first
league Futsal matches and 34 second league matches. I live in Wimbledon at the moment. I
hope you can help me. I wait your mail.

Rules Question from Vahid Molaie
Thu, 21 Oct 2004
I am Vahid Molaie from Iran, and I am a soccer referee with degree 2.
I want to ask one question about the futsal rules. In the corner kick, what is the

or does he stand back in the corner arc?
Please answer to my questions soon. Thank you very much

Teams Invited to Amateur Futsal Invitational in Porto, Portugal
Wed, 12 May 2004
Portus87 is an amateur futsal team from Porto, Portugal, and we are organizing the Futsal
Eurocup 2004, to be held July 10-11.
This is an invitational competition to be played by completely amateur teams in an
informal spirit, and its main objective is to promote the friendship and fair-play between
futsal teams. There is no entrance fee.
Therefore, it has an amateur level with a two-league format in the first day and two
different playoff competitions (A and B) on the second day, in order to assure that every
team plays a similar number of games. The tournament already has committed entries from
Portugal, Holland, Belgium, France and Spain.
The event program will feature tours and cultural visits to sites in Porto including
UNESCO and several points of historical interest.
National and local press coverage has been secured with several institutional and
corporate sponsors also involved. The City Council of Maia (10 minutes from Porto) has
offered us a magnificent arena for the tournament with all the facilities for players,
spectators and press.
For the teams interested the organization arranges preferential accommodation rates at
local hotels. There are still openings for interested clubs.

Successful N.Y. Ecuador Condors Futsal Club Looking for Players in Queens
Area
Tue, 4 May 2004
My name is Tony Toral, and I am the coach and general manager for the N.Y. Ecuador Condors. We are largely a soccer club that is now affiliated with U.S. Futsal. We played in the Regionals without ever playing Futsal and placed third. We are a very successful club since we won the MLS Futbolito Tournament in N.Y. and always place among the top four in invitational tournaments around the area.
I would like to know if you can place a note in your website stating that we are
looking for Futsal players in the Queens area to participate in our upcoming USSF
sanctioned league at the U-19 and Open Divisions. Any players interested can contact us at
ECUADORIANSOCCER@aol.com.
Thank you for all your help and congratulations on your website which I feel is a great
tool in promoting Futsal! Also, I agree with you in that the U.S. needs a Pro Futsal
League and also would like to know when the National Finals are coming to the East Coast.
Do you think there is anything we as affiliated teams, leagues can do or do you think
that as individuals we can go about creating such a league?

Letter Supporting Vava Marques
Tue, 6 Apr 2004
A new Yahoo Group has started, hopefully just a temporary one, in support of Coach Vava Marques, who has been wrongly suspended for at least a year (basically fired) from his college coaching position.
The link is http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/I_support_Vava_Marques.There
you'll find out the reasons why Foothill
College claims he did something so terrible to cause his suspension, and there are various
pieces of evidence which testify that Vava Marques has not done anything wrong.
If justice takes place, we'll see Vava Marques reinstated as the Foothill College Men's Soccer Coach and the persons responsible for his unfair treatment held accountable.

A Letter of Thanks to Victor Beceiro
Mon, 12 Apr 2004
I would like to openly extend my warmest thanks for FIFA's interest and support for Futsal
through Mr. Victor Beceiro, specifically for our local efforts in the Philippines. I
especially remember Victor helping our Futsal Program by giving fatherly development
advice through a meeting we had in Thailand during the Thai 5's last year, regular email
correspondences, sending Technical Training Manuals to our country, and coordinating with
FIFA Futsal Representative to A.F.C. Joao Rocha, for a Total Asian Effort for the Sport's
growth.
Mr. Beceiro's presence in FIFA House will be missed by us, as his contribution to our
beginnings in the Futsal Committee of the Philippine Football Federation was great. I wish
him all the best in his next chosen challenge and endeavor. Allow me to take this
opportunity to again, to thank FIFA for the Futsal work and that we in the Philippines
look forward to more fruitful partnerships and cooperative efforts for Futsal.
